I'm interested. simple and inexpensive possibilities that may perhaps be messy text: group email threads, editable group doc with prompts or session dates for comments, a piece of paper that we somehow mail back and forth......... :/
I use payhip for products (not interactive community space) and really appreciate their lower fees. I also use GoCardless for services/groups which is an ACH payment processor—so people can’t use credit cards, but the fees are sooooooo low compared to anywhere else.
I used Patreon for years and still wince when I think about the fees they took from me. It really adds up. For a time it felt worth it, but now I’d use discord for a community space and take reoccurring payments through Payhip and/or GoCardless. Tedious to be spread out, but for relatively low-income facilitators… can really make a difference!
some good ideas! but discord is a hell realm to navigate... would still have the problem of how to host and organize a course logically, of which telegram/discord/etc cannot do. and the obvious issue, managing who has access each and every month. that admin work is brutal on the soul. patreon handles that automatically -- you unsubscribe, you lose access.
Great point about the struggle of managing access. Can be easier for smaller/more intimate groups but definitely not worth it for an ongoing or bigger course. It sounds like Patreon makes the most sense for you! I do suggest looking into GoCardless for larger payments or if you do any 1-on-1 work.
not sure about platform but definitely would be interested in attending- I do find Patreon to be a good platform though, another creator uses it for a very interactive book club and its one of the better experiences I've had with a digital community platform
circle starts at about $100 a month, disciple is wayyy more. podia was an option but even then it's about $80/mo. i was definitely leaning towards podia but im not sure it's really worth it. thanks for the ideas though.
I'm interested too! I would like to avoid Patreon if possible, as it's been a problematic platform for me recently when trying to subscribe to Creators. I suspect it has take on an AI algorithm to manage it and its customer service.
I see below that Discord/Telegram/etc. aren't ideal for you, those were going to be my suggestions. Hoping someone else has a better idea!
Would find a way to adjust platform wise to what suits your needs best. Munch Munch Munch Munch. I’ve downsized to substack and a small handful of telegram channels.
im interested. im assuming live is the way? will see how timing lines up with the bottom of the planet down here. thanks👍
Live and recorded, just like i do now with the monthly lecture here on substack
sounds groovy - im in!

Yes it is an interesting option

i'd like to hear more about what you like about how they use it if u want to share... also their name so maybe i can do the research
Yes, interested, and I’m increasingly interested to see how other people participate/respond/improvise with the teachings/prompts
Plus side of Patreon is not having to learn how another app works
Id be interested in a dream sangha on the lower tier
Have you explored Circle or Disciple?
Podia is also something I’ve used as both a student with other teachers and as a provider.
Not sure if they meet your needs.

I'd sign up

currently there are no better ideas and platform paralysis is definitely an issue i have to manage or else nothing will get done.
I’d sign up for low/middle tier.
