I'm experiencing depression as emptiness becomes more and more present in my awareness. I'm wondering if ancestral ghostliness is a useful frame for moving through this, and if so, how? By depression, I mean physical and psychic heaviness, like it feels difficult to get my body to move and do basic things. It comes in waves.
Thanks for opening up this AMA, appreciating this opportunity. I can't join the group sessions but am watching the recordings and practicing.
what are some risks of going out into the wilderness (alone or in a group)? any tips for protection?
i recall you talking about this on the underworld party episode w nico and i was curious about why "wilderness" spaces would have different dangers than human populated areas
I don’t discern the presence of spiritual entities and don’t have personal experience that validates the concept of ghosts or, put differently, left-over iterations of people from the past. I find it difficult to integrate this part of the teaching, although I utilise and integrate into my life the teachings of self-regulation and managing/reframing expectations of reality. Can you assist me with unpacking your experience of entities, to the extent that someone who doesn’t see, hear or perceive them, needs to know. I’ve followed for a while and absorbing what I can, but this theme is difficult as it seems to require a level of belief, and I’ve had to be very sceptical with my capacity to believe things in the past. Also I’m in the southern hemisphere so the current energetic situation is flipped and it’s a mild, if wet, Spring here. I’ll wait till you get through the years teachings and read back 👍
Hi Dare, thanks for opening up a public space to consider questions.
I have a couple questions;
What is it about the view of Daoism and the way it evaluates ghosts and nature that has lead you to practice within it, as opposed to others animist view systems?
Are there other nondual views that have been relevant to your experiences with ghosts and exorcisms?
Different ecologies seem to carry different ghosts and gods. being that Daoism as we know it has roots of a specific ecology, how can we meet the ghosts of our local ecologies and adapt our practices to better suit them and respect them?
Do you have any recommendations for how to interact with ghosts without unintentionally feeding them? Side question, Is it necessary to get to know the ghosts that we live with in a relational way?
Hey Dare :) You mentioned briefly in the last call about it maybe not being the best idea to walk along windy coastlines etc at this time of year, and if you do, to take spiritual precautions. Could you expand on this a little more? Very interested as someone who lives on a blustery island where the hawthorn grow horizontal :D Thanks! Also blessings to your spine :( x
that info has been in the qi node precautions in the recent posts. the basic jist is that wind enters the channels of the body and creates issues. wrists, ankles, neck etc where joint junctures are must be protected at all costs. it is not merely spiritual, it is biological and physiological. there is no distinction between these things. and its not my recommendation, but the tradition of asian medicine.
Can you speak about the ghost(s) that cause autism/ spectrum experience? It is becoming more prevalent for people to identify this way and the diagnostic points do help to explain the fact that many folx struggle to keep up with the amount of information (and inauthentic social interactions) swirling through our world in this social moment. Would love to hear your perspective. Thank you!
