Daoist polestar focus with yijing divination + hygiene practice sessions

As a way to learn & honor together i’ve been contemplating bringing in some of my dear dead teacher liu ming’s work into sessions in a more explicit way. The reason i havent done this before is because lineage politics at the intersection of the system of whiteness and colonialism is fraught with emotional turmoil and faction warfare.

Everybody wants to pick the right side in a neverending battle for supremacy and resources.

Da Yuan circle itself, the body holding ming’s teachings, hasn’t actually put forth anything in terms of a student body of apprenticeship since his death in 2015. In the years since i sort of took it upon myself to share ming’s teachings with certain people who I thought should have it, one of them being Clarissa Gunawan who has gone on to revive the live teaching cycle of Dao of Dream with my dear friend and colleague Erin Langley, as well as working with Da Yuan circle behind the scenes.

Dao of dreaming is a large part of how deathpractice was transmitted to me via dreams and visions. The end of dao of dreaming is the beginning of deathpractice in a quite literal way. Ming’s sharing of his true dream about the wolf, the raven and the mirror transformed into the relationship with Pain, Fear & Hunger-desire as the three Wisdom Forces (red, black and white medicine goddesses), children of Death, The Mother, The True Mirror. None of these insights would have been possible in my younger days without a decade plus of spiritual experiences, being contacted by Mother Snake and various other aspects of Death including Santa Muerte. Ancestral, Indigenous, African, Central & South American death/nature/ancestral spirits helped me to integrate asian spirituality in a more complete way and that path is still ongoing. Spirits tend not to care so much about ethnicity and race, they just care if your fate, karma and constitution are set up to do the job.

For pre-existing students/clients and those who already have a robust framework of astrology/divination (any system), i can hold a session that combines aspects of polestar astrology (mainly focusing on birth-fate and health palaces, exalted stars) along with yijing (i ching) divination and supplementary guidance in particular hygiene and meditation practices.

Regarding the yijing I was trained by one of ming’s divination students Shambhavi Sarasvati of Jaya Kula.

For other hygiene and meditation I have been trained by many people in many lineages and tend to focus on methods that are simple, playful, immediately applicable and wholeness-based. Some of these come from Daoism, some from Tibetan Dzogchen & Atiyoga, and some from other places such as integration of Network Neuroscience and Neuro-decolonization. To list these methods and the teachers would take a long time and so i will refrain in this post.

Typical polestar sessions, if one were to do a full daoist natal reading for example, should be done by another more specialized practitioner such as William Kohlhase (my personal daoist natal astrologist), Anne Shelton, Zhen Wu/Scott Seanan Zook, or Gregory Done (there are many others trained in this method i have not listed here so do your own research, each with their own style)

These sessions tend to be much longer ritualized sessions with an investment fee that matches the energy required. This is not what I’m offering and it may be that i am a good person to come to after you’ve done one of these and integrated the first wave of insights.

If one already has a good base and is not a total beginner, then the combination of polestar, yijing divination and embodied hygiene and meditation practices can look at issues from an array of wisdom angles and perhaps shake off some of the crust of colonialism that clouds our discernment and perception.

This kind of session would not be a substitute for the 8 module Deathpractice teaching, nor would it be a replacement for ongoing skill building in deathclown method. In the near future (feb/mar 2024) i am developing a twice monthly online container for deathclown that acts as both an introduction and ongoing training for past intensive students. I will lay out the structure and scaffolding for the online deathclown training in another post in the near future.

The donation offering for the polestar/yijing/hygiene session is the same as regular sessions which you can see on the sessions tab. Sliding scale beginning at 150usd per hour. Sessions can be structured as 60, 90 or 120minutes based on your financial needs, but keep in mind there is a limit to what can be shared within a 60 minute time frame. Divination and astrology are not fortune telling or snake oil, they are reflective experiments in relational animism.

To reiterate, this would not be the very first session you have with me, i require more relationality and verification of your general base of practice before going into this kind of ritual structure.

Straight up yijing divination is in many ways less personal than dealing with your natal astrology, but your natal astrology can’t be generalized away from your lived experience, which is why knowing what your fate is (astrologically) is a key component in understanding how you might be able to resolve it.
